Cincy Flames 21, Southwest Sting 2

Middletown, OH - The Cincy Flames continued their undefeated pool play with a 21-2 win over the Southwest Sting. Ryne Fritz pitched 4 solid innings giving up just 1 ER, and recorded a strikeout. The defense behind him played very well Trey Amann stabbed a shot to his left at second base and threw out the runner easily. Justin Moyer also turned in a solid play at short.

Amann led off the 2nd with a double and scored a run, and Kane Bateman went 3-4 with 3 RBI, and 2 R to lead the offense.

Middletown, OH - After a rocky first inning the Flames poured it on late and beat the Angels in 4 innings 18-10. John Malott pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up just one hit and 3 walks and John struck out 6. Offensively Brett Bosel went 2 for 2 with 2 R, and Ryne Poli went 2 for 4 with a R, and 2 RBI. Ryne Fritz executed a perfect suicide squeeze in the 2nd inning.

Cincy Flames 13, Lakota Tribe 4

Middletown, OH - The Cincy Flames avenged last weekends 11-10 loss to the Tribe behind the strong pitching of Tristan Lana to win the first game of pool play in the 2006 SWOL Multi-Sanction Regional Tournament.

The Flames erupted for 8 runs in the top of the 5th inning led by RBI's singles from Bret Bosel, Brandon Mullins, and Mark Peterson, and a beautifully executed suicide squeeze by Ryne Fritz. Trey Amann followed with an RBI single and after Justin Moyer was drilled in the back by an inside pitch, Ryne Poli drilled a two-out RBI double over the left field head.

Tristan Lana tossed 5 solid innings recording 4 strikeouts while giving up just 4 hits, 3 walks, and 2 earned runs for the win. Joey Wenning slammed the door shut in the bottom of the 6th with 2 Ks for the save.

Avondale Angels 21, Cincy Flames 13

Despite a 9-run outburst in the 5th inning, the Flames couldn't overcome the Avondale Angels hitting onslaught. Early in the game the Flames loaded the bases in several innings, but all of the Flames sharp hits were finding the Angels' gloves.

Cincy Flames 11, Cincinnati Stix 10

"Birthday Boy" Kane Bateman drove in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double, and then scored the winning run on a wild pitch several pitches later to secure the win for the Flames. Kane also came in, in relief of John Malott for the win. Everybody on the team had alteast one hit or scored a run in the come from behind win over the Stix.

After their exciting win over the Cincinnati Stix the Flames came out flat against the Tribe. The Tribe scored 5 runs in the top of the sixth to take a 11-9 lead, the the Flames could only dent the plate once in the bottom half of the inning. The Flames are now 23-1 against 9u competition.

Cincy Flames 5, Cincinnati Riverbats 4

West Chester, OH - In true Flames fashion the team rallied in the top of the 6th with the game on the line to take the lead. A great defensive play by Mark Peterson and Ryne Poli and solid pitching by Brett Bosel shut the Riverbats down in the bottom of the inning.

In the decisive top of the 6th inning Tristan Lana led off the inning with a clutch single, and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of Ryne Poli. Bret Bosel then hit a triple to the fence in right field, followed by Brandon "Alice Cooper" Mullins RBI go-ahead single to put the Flames up to stay. Justin Moyer pitched 3 2/3 solid innings giving up 3 H, 2 BB, and no ER for the win. Bret Bosel pitched the final 2 1/3 giving up just one H and a BB for the save.

Madiera Stangs (10u) 13, Cincy Flames 10 8 innings

The Flames second loss of the season came in heartbreaking fashion. After fighting back to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth inning at 10-10, the Flames couldn't muster any runs in the extra frames, and the Stangs scored 3 in the top of the 8th and held on in the bottom of the inning for the win.

Kane Bateman went 3-3 with 3 R and Ryne Poli went 2-4 with 2 RBI.

The Flames potent offense once again led the team to another 10U SWOL victory. Mark Peterson led the offense with a bases clearing triple in the third. Kane Bateman went 2-4 with 3 R, and 2 RBI, Tristan Lana went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 R. Starter John Malott pitched 3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits with 5 Ks for the win. Earlier in the year John unsuccessfully tried to field a ball with his chin, since that didn't work today he tried his calf, and was equally unsuccessful. Joey Wenning and Kane Bateman held the Thunder down in the last 3 innings, with Kane recording another save.

John Malott, Ryne Poli, Bret Bosel, and Brandon Mullins each also had RBI hits.

Cincy Flames 16, Fairfield Chiefs 0

Justin Moyer tossed a complete game shutout, and the offense once again produced early and often, each player scored atleast one run. In the 10-run 4th inning every Flame produced a run or an RBI, led by a two-run single by Ryne Poli. Bret Bosel, John Malott and Tristan Lana also slammed RBI singles.

On the mound Justin Moyer's new pitch was keeping the Chiefs guessing all night. Justin finished the game with just 45 pitches (78% strikes), he allowed only two (bunt) singles and no walks. Justin struck out three. Defensively in the 3rd inning Ryne Fritz made an outstanding play at second snaring a ball to his left and throwing out the runner easily. Earlier in the game John Malott fielded a ball deep in the hole at short and threw out the runner at first on a bang-bang play.

Cincy Flames 8, Monroe Swarm (10u) 6

Monroe, OH - The Flames bounced back in true champion fashion with an 8-6 win over the Swarm from Monroe. Bret Bosel pitched 4 hitless innings for the win. He allowed only two walks and gave up just one unearned run while striking out 6. Justin Moyer started a two-out rally in the third with a single and scored on Kane Bateman's RBI-double. In the bottom of the fourth, the Flames big inning, RBI's by Bret Bosel, Brandon Mullins, and Mark Peterson led the way. In the Bottom of the fifth RBI singles by Tristan Lana and Ryne Poli put the Flames ahead to stay. Kane Bateman pitched 1 2/3rd of an inning with 4 ks for the save.
