Fairfield Chiefs Spring Break Bash Champions!!

Fairfield, OH - The Flames beat J.B. Yeager this morning 16-0, the Cincinnati Stix 6-3 and then beat the Cincinnati Riverbats 8-4 in the Championship game.

The Flames pitching and hitting were both dominating in the 3rd game of the FC Spring Break Bash. Starting pitcher Joey Wenning went 3 commanding innings striking out 8, while throwing 31 of his 41 pitches for strikes. Justin Moyer finished off the game in the 4th with 3 strike outs of his own. The bats stayed alive with Kane Bateman going 3 for 3 including a 2 run single, Mark Peterson went 1 for 1 with a two run single, and Justin Moyer went 1 for 2 with a 2 run single.

The Flames entered the game knowing a win would put them in the championship game. The pressure was on and the boys met the challenge. Starting pitcher Brandon Mullins set the tone early by striking out 3 in the first inining. The third inning proved to be the big inning for the Flames, Trey Amann started them off by roping a double down the left field line, singles by Kane Bateman and John Malott were followed by RBIs by Tristan Lana and Brett Bosel. Brandon and then the bullpen took it from there. The Stix didn't muster another run after the 4th inning, thanks to two strong plays at the plate by catcher Ryne Poli and the Flames earned the right to the Championship game versus the Cincinnati Riverbats.

The Flames kept their fans on the edge of their fold-up chairs the whole game. Despite having nerve wracked fans the Flames players played like true Champions, keeping it close early and erupting for 5 runs in the last two innings. Justin Moyers' 2-run, 2-out single in the bottom of the fourth put the Flames ahead to stay. In the fourth Ryne Fritz added a big RBI-single and Kane Bateman remained hot with the bat lacing his 3rd single of the day.
The Bullpen once again came up big with Joey Wenning and John Malott bridging the gap to get to closer Tristan Lana and his two inning save.
