2006 Bandit Yard Invitational Champions!!

Greenfield, IN - The Cincy Flames once again swept through a tournament with a perfect record. After finishing up pool play with a 21-7 win over the Carmel Pups, the Flames entered the single elimination playoff games as the #1 seed. The Flames knocked off the Indiana Prospects 11-1 in the semi-final game, and then beat the Tippecanoe Wolfpack in the Championship game 14-10.

The Flames brought out the lumber (metal) for the final pool play game against the Pups, every Flame hitter scored a run or recorded an RBI. Ryne Poli went 3 for 3 with a 2b, 4 R, and an RBI, Bret Bosel went 3 for 4 with a 2B, 2 R, and 5 RBI, John Malott went 1 for 3 with a bases clearing double, and Brandon Mullins also went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. Ryne Fritz started the game and went 2 innings without giving up an earned run, and Joey Wenning came in in relief a pitched two scoreless innings with a strikeout for the win. Kane Bateman pitched the 5th and recorded a strikeout, allowed 1 R, on 1 H for the save.

Bret Bosel threw 3 dominating innings for the win. Bret did not allow a hit or an earned run and struck out 7. Joey Wenning pitched a scoreless fourth inning for the save. Brandon Mullins ripped a two run single in the 3rd inning and later scored, and Justin Moyer scored twice, once on an RBI single by Tristan Lana in the 4th. The play of the game, (and maybe the weekend) was the nifty double play turned by Mark Peterson, Justin Moyers, and Bret Bosel. After Justin fielded a grounder at second and threw the hitter out at first base, Mark fired a seed to Bret who laid down a perfect tag on the runner attempting to take third.

John Malott hit a 2-run double, Ryne Poli hit a 2-run single, Justin Moyers, Trey Amann, Mark Peterson and Brandon Mullins each scored twice to lead the offense. John Malott started off the game with 13 straight strikes before throwing his first ball. The Wolfpack brought their bats and scored 3 earned runs off of John on 6 hits, but he battled all night, recording 4 strikeouts and no walks for the win. Tristan Lana pitched 1/3rd of an inning in relief, and Justin "Ice-in-his-Veins" Moyers pitched the last inning giving up 2 runs on 2 hits for the save.
